The Collar   AUTHOR SIGNING: Evelyn Harper with The Collar

Sunday, December 21st, 2PM to 4PM

What is hidden in the collar? A computer chip? A cure for cancer? A cry for help? Whatever it is, one man is willing to kill to find the collar and the message hidden inside. Susan Cook, the realtor who finds a dog locked inside her new listing, thinks that the evicted tenants have abandoned it. Feeling sorry for the little cross-eyed dog, she takes it home, cleans it up, and exchanges the heavy ornate collar that’s around its neck with a lighter one. However, she is not the one who is supposed to find the dog. When the ornate collar is lost, the intended recipient is ruthless in his attempts to find it and the message inside.

The Legender
AUTHOR SIGNING: Jason Link with The Legender

Monday, December 22nd, 12PM to 2PM

Over a thousand years have passed, yet there has been no sign of the legenders, those mysterious beings who once formed the elements into the shapes of mighty beasts. Many think the legenders are a myth, and no one suspects that Arkos--the reclusive artisan who carves animal bones--is one of them. Arkos' life of solitude, however, is drastically changed when the ancient city in which he lives is struck by a great terror and the old myths begin to resound once more. As plots and danger arise, Arkos is swept up into an adventure that takes him into the dark unknown, and along his journey he learns that the true nature of his being runs much deeper than he had come to believe.

AUTHOR SIGNING: Richard Alan Hall with Remarkable and Seldom as They Seem

Monday, December 22nd, 2PM to 4PM

REMARKABLE is the first in Richard Alan Hall's Big Bay series.  From the moment Stanley James McMillen launched into his unpredictable career as a registered nurse, he knew it was the right thing to do. The kaleidoscope of shocking events would change his life and show the strength of the remarkable human spirit in the face of terror and tragedy, because of loyalty and love. SELDOM AS THEY SEEM is the second in the series.   Stanley and the "usual suspects" return to immerse the reader into their lives -- their loves, losses, spiritual journeys, and enduring friendships. Sprinkled into the mix are some new and enduring faces and souls, as well as some high profile contemporary figures.

Seldom as They Seem

AUTHOR SIGNING: Peg Jonhkoff with

Perry Hannah's Gifts: Then and Now

Monday, December 22nd, 5PM to 6PM

The purpose of this book is to tell a series of short stories about the gifts Mr. Hannah left for us more than 110 years ago in a then and now format. In some cases elements have remained relatively unchanged and the gift is able to be recognized as having been given by Mr. Hannah. In others, the original gift has been replaced by modern structures or the gift remains but is not readily identifiable with Mr. Hannah. Here, we will paint several succinct pictures, using text and photos to illuminate where his fingerprints remain for everyone to discover and cherish.

AUTHOR SIGNING: John Mitchell with

Grand Traverse: The Civil War Era

Tuesday, December 23rd, 4PM to 6PM

John Mitchell’s Michigan History award winning book is a must for the history buff on your shopping list!  While the bonds uniting North and South frayed under the weight of slavery, and then broke into the violence of the American Civil War, the wilderness harbors along the coast of Grand Traverse blossomed into booming port towns. The story of Grand Traverse during the era is an account of a place and a nation rising to their shared destiny, one settled, the other redefined, during the epic struggle. All who see a unique perspective of the Civil War, drawn from a well of previously unpublished primary sources, should read this book.
